KLRN presents a fun, free Back to School event for the whole family in collaboration with the San Antonio Food Bank and the United Way HOPES & Dual Generation initiative.
Join us at the San Antonio Food Bank on Saturday, July 20th from 10 AM – 1 PM as we prepare to head back to school. Families can enjoy games, activities, and a special visit by Stu from the PBS KIDS show Lyla in the Loop. Local community organizations will provide FREE resources, activities, and more for families attending the event.
We'll also be distributing free backpacks, books, and other school supplies for school age children. These items will only be available on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last. Please note that registration to the event does not guarantee that you receive supplies. More information about the backpack and school supply giveaway below.
Registration Information:
Pre-registration is now closed however, on-site registration will be available on the day of the event at the WHITE canopy.
If you pre-registered you were sent an email that will serve as CONFIRMATION and enable you to enter the event through the Pre-Registration side of the event entrance. This entrance will be located at the YELLOW KLRN Tent.
Schedule of Events:
- 10AM - 1PM Resource Tables at the Harvey E. Najim Children’s Pavilion
- 10:30AM, 11:30AM, and 12:30PM Meet & Greet with Stu from PBS KIDS show "Lyla in the Loop" Inside the SAFB Culinary Center
- 11:00 AM Performance by Grupo Folklorico de Bendiciones in the Harvey E. Najim Children’s Pavilion
- Time TBD: Cooking Demonstration in Culinary Classroom
Backpacks and supplies pick up will be happening throughout the event while supplies last. These will be provided on a first come first serve basis while supplies last. We will have 500 backpacks available with supplies to provide to families that are in need of these items.
**Backpack & School Supply Giveaway Details:
Please note that registration does not guarantee that you receive a backpack. Child must be present at registration for you to receive a bracelet. The bracelet allows you to pick up a backpack. Backpacks are only available while supplies last. Backpacks are provided by United Way San Antonio & Bexar County HOPES Program.
